Banda, Heritage for Indonesia

Nutmeg and the Treaty of Breda, 1667-2017

Banda, Heritage for Indonesia commemorates the 350th anniversary of the Treaty of Breda at Galeri Nasional in Jakarta. It traces the fascinating history behind the Treaty of Breda. Banda’s multi-faceted and complex history is highlighted through historical maps, images and objects, juxtaposed with contemporary Indonesian art. The exhibition introduces nutmeg and its characteristics and Banda, once a centre of international trade and world politics.
